BASIC INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Instructions for Installing Your Hide-a-Mount™ Flush TV Mounting Solution

  • Frame out studs for a rough opening of 18″ wide x 27.5″ tall. Allow for depth of 7- 3/4″ to accommodate the enclosure. See Figure 1-A for suggested audiovisual measurements AND Figure 1-B for enclosure location measurements.
  • Measure the height of the audiovisual unit that is being installed. If a sound bar is being attached to the TV, then include the sound bar in these measurements, as well.

FIGURE 1-A

FIGURE 1-B

  • The center of the Hide-a-Mount™ enclosure should be installed 2″ off the finished height of the mantel PLUS the center measurement of the total height of the full audiovisual system (including the sound bar if it is being mounted to the TV).
  • As per the above EXAMPLE, Figure 1-B shows the vertical center of the enclosure would be installed at 15-3/4″ inches off the finished height of the mantel (13-3/4″ PLUS 2″ = 15-3/4″ center height). The MantelMount™ bracket assembly comes complete with TV mounting arms that allow for additional fine-tuning height adjustments, depending on the installer’s preference. With the 20° range of articulation that the Pivot Bracket provides, combined with the Hide-a-Mount™ enclosure, you can now achieve an unmatched aesthetic, ultra-flush, low-to-mantel appearance for your audiovisual system.
  • Remove the four bolts that are securing the MantelMount™ bracket to the Hide-a-Mount™ recessed enclosure assembly. Removing the MantelMount™ bracket from the enclosure allows for an easy installation of the enclosure without the added weight of the MantelMount™ bracket.
  • The Hide-a-Mount™ enclosure is built with two separate knockouts to install separate power and data cables. This allows for an easy wire management solution, which adds to the ultra-flush appearance of the assembly. In addition, it adds to the many different options that the installer will have with reference to wire management, depending on preference.
  • The Hide-a-Mount™ is built with a convenient 1-inch finishing lip to help with the installation process, or to add a nice finished appearance. Depending on the installer’s preference, the Hide-a-Mount™ can be installed directly to the framing studs prior to sheetrock/finished-wood trim or after sheetrock/finished-wood trim. Once the installer decides on installation preference, simply drill four 3/8-inch holes in the sides of the enclosure where they will be used to attach the supplied lag bolts to the previously installed wood framing. See Figure 1-C for hole drilling locations.

FIGURE 1-D

FIGURE 1-E

  • With the height of the Hide-a-Mount™ enclosure being 27-1/2″ tall, there may possibly be the preference for a final-finishing look where no sign of the enclosure is visible behind the TV. The enclosure was designed to allow a TV with a VESA mounting pattern of 400mm x 400mm bracket spacing (approximately 15-3/4 inches) to fully recess flush into the enclosure. As per Figure 1-D below, most of the enclosure can easily be hidden behind the sheetrock or finished-wood molding, depending on the installer’s preference. The pivot bracket is designed for the width to be cut down to the actual width of the bracket spacing, which coordinates with the installer’s actual TV. When cutting the bracket, cut in a location that leaves a completed oval shape in the top and bottom of the bracket. This can vary from 15-3/4 inches to approximately 8 inches. So, for a finished hidden appearance behind the TV, simply adjust the height and width measurements of the final sheetrock installation or finished cabinetry/trim to hide all of the enclosure that is not needed, and make sure that the MantelMount™ bracket remains unobstructed during its full range of motion.
  • For final horizontal leveling, a 1/2-inch adjusting backer bolt has been added into the MantelMount™ bracket arm. Simply adjust the backer bolt to stop out at the point where the arm is holding the TV perfectly horizontal to its surroundings.
  • For all the information regarding the MantelMount™ drop-down bracket, simply reference the full MantelMount™ instructions included with this assembly.
  • FIGURE 1-E shows how a finished installation could look.
